When a person’s joints are damaged and excess inflammation occurs, it is called arthritis. It causes pain during movement. Millions of people suffer from this disease. Around hundred types of arthritis can be found worldwide. The most common are –
- Rheumatoid Arthritis
It is mostly found in older patients. With age, cartilage that surrounds joints dry up resulting in abrasion of bones. During Osteoarthritis, water in cartilage increases thus decreasing the protein content in it. This disease happens mostly because of overweight, continuous stress and movement of joints, diabetes, pregnancy and hormonal imbalance.
It affects joints of smaller fingers, thumbs and also knees. It does not make you feel fatigue but gives you pain during movement and stiffness in the morning. Although morning pain does not last for more than 30 minutes, the pain not affects the joints, but also hip and spine.
Rheumatoid Arthritis –
This arthritis is now affecting majority of people in the world. It affects frequently used joints in our body like your wrists, feet and hands. It is also an autoimmune disease and it gets worse with time and starts affecting most organs like heart and lungs slowly.
Such kind of disease is more common among women and millions are suffering with this. Somebody suffering from this chronic disease will suffer from pain after taking rest. Generally, it starts early morning when you wake up and stays for more than 30 minutes.
Rheumatoid Arthritis generally affects wrists and hands that are not affected by Osteoarthritis. Causes of this disease is yet to be identified. However, it is believed that it is mostly a genetic factor.
None of the above disease has any cure. Certain medicines are there in the market, but there only purpose is to decrease pain and prevent more destruction in joints. Physical therapy is used to treat patients so that they can at least do their daily job smoothly.
